Nana Appiah Mensah aka Nam1, CEO of Menzgold Ghana Limited, expressed his intention to reclaim his GH₵2.5 million from the Ghana Police. He clarified that the money wasn’t meant for the Bank of Ghana; it was for secure distribution by the police.
In an interview with Starr FM, Nam1 stated that their agreement was to use the police as security for money distribution. He added that it was not for the money to be deposited in the Bank of Ghana. Nam1 expressed surprise that the money was deposited at the Bank of Ghana. He insisted he would approach the police to rectify this discrepancy.
On October 20, 2023, following advice from the Office of the Attorney-General, the police received the GH₵2.5 million from Nam1 . This money has been placed in the Police Exhibit account at the Bank of Ghana, awaiting court instructions.
Whether the police will return the funds as Nam1 requests remains uncertain for now. The final decision on disbursement rests with the court.
